2006 in Review - Top 5 on TV

December 11th, 2006 · No Comments

Another year - another year in review. This is my first 2006 in Review Post. A look back at the events, entertainment and experiences that defined 2006 for me.

First off, the Top 5 on TV:

I fear that I am the only geek on the planet who isn’t all over Battlestar Galactica, but it’s true. With that in mind, here are the five shows I couldn’t miss in 2006:

1. Avatar: The Last Airbender
So it’s my favorite TV show of all time, it’ll be all over my ‘2006 in Review’ lists and I know people are tired of me praising it every chance I get. This show represents everything I love in entertainment - it’s as simple as that.

2. Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends
Foster’s is a show that I’ve always wanted to watch, but couldn’t because it’s on when I’m at work. Once I started TiVo-ing it, I realized what I was missing out on. The visual style, sharp writing, amazing characters and wonderful voice talent make every show a lesson in direction and an experience you can’t wait to get more of.

3. Heroes
I saw the preview at Comic-Con and I knew that they were onto something, but I had no idea it would be this incredible. It succeeds in taking super heroes to the masses with deep, thought out characters, tight dialogue and a plot that will always keep you guessing. All of this and one of the most lovable characters of all time with Hiro.

And if you are watching this show, and aren’t reading the online comics, click the link and check it out.

4. House
Dr. House, the doctor you love to hate. For those with a love for dark humor and biting dialogue, House gives you the most entertaining hour on television today.

House took a step in the right direction in 2006 by putting the man himself, House, in jeopardy. Now his relationship with his team, his peers and his patients is at risk because of his addiction to pain killers and a cop who refuses to let it rest.

5. Family Guy
One of the only tv shows with the aggresive pacing to capture the attention of the burst generation. Obscure pop culture references, chronic flashbacks and humor that pushes the line and crosses it on regular occasion.

I still love me some Simpsons, but Family Guy is where it’s at.
