While the blockbusters are in theaters this summer, we are getting a steady stream of craptacular entertainment on DVD.

First up - Ultraviolet.

Generally, I only comment on movies I like - but I feel the need to warn people about Ultraviolet.
My friend Will summed up this movie when he said “I didn’t think anything could be worse than Aeon Flux, I guess I was wrong.” Ultraviolet is the single worst movie I’ve seen in the theatre in the past year, probably the past five years. There were FX shots that actually looked like animatics and the dialogue is possibly the worst dialogue to appear in a native english movie - ever. Some Japanese video games have better dialogue - all your base indeed.

Now the DVD is extended and Unrated - at best this means more of the same crap.

Beyond Kong

11 Full movies - 720 minutes of Kong rip-off movies for $6.99! Two DVD’s and an additional DVD in which the clips are pre-formated for iPod video (good idea, me thinks we’ll be seeing more of that in the future). It’s all you need to host your own B movie night.

Burst City

Full on insane Japanese live action mayhem. Post-apocalypse? Check. Japanse Punk Bands? Check. Over the top violences? Got that too. Burst City was a major influence on many of Japan’s most prolific directors and is required viewing for any fan.
